Description:

The contemporary composer Gary Higginson studied with Edmund Rubbra and John Joubert, and has led a varied and successful career as a composer, singer, and teacher. This is the first recording dedicated to his choral music, and Selwyn were honoured to be invited to record it.

Sarah MacDonald wears two hats at once on this disc, as the recording also features two pieces for upper voices sung by Ely Cathedral Girls' Choir. The renowned soprano Charlotte de Rothschild, and harpist Danielle Perrett are also featured on the recording.

The music is technically sophisticated, and Gary's word setting is extremely expressive and beautiful.
